Carlton (3rd period): Today we discussed the movie that we saw yesterday. The students watched The Rosa Parks Story which served as an introduction to our next unit. We will be studying the writings of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. with a particular focus on his "I Have a Dream" speech. Our study will focus on literary analysis of his writings as well as other authors. We will also begin reading To Kill a Mockingbird during this nine week period.
The students also began their SAT vocabulary project for unit 5. Students will complete this project during class. The quiz on SAT 5 will be Wednesday, 1/25. Notecards will not be required for this unit, but if students wish to make them, they are always a helpful study tool. The in-class project will also assist them with reviewing the words and gaining an understanding of their meanings.
Attard/Carlton (1st period): We saw the SAT 5 video today.
HW: SAT 5 vocabulary cards due Monday, 1/2\3; quiz Wednesday 1/25
Johnson/Carlton (6th, 7th periods): We began reading chapter one of To Kill a Mockingbird today. If you have not obtained a copy of the novel, please do so as soon as possible. We will read the first few chapters together in class, but most of the reading will be done at home. It is important that you have a copy that you can read outside of class.
