Carlton: Today students continued work on their narrative rough drafts.  HW: Bring your rough draft to class tomorrow.  You should have your introduction and body paragraph completed.  We will work on writing the conclusion in class.  I am attaching my example to help you with your work.  Remember to focus ONLY on the event included in your picture.  Download Ms. Carlton narrative example revised

Attard/Carlton: The students went to the book fair and worked on their descriptive writing.

Johnson/Carlton: Students worked on grammar skills, and we reviewed information on the writing test.

HW: SAT 6 notecards and quiz Friday, 10/28

Carlton: Students took the SAT 3 quiz today.  Tomorrow, all students should have a completed graphic organizer and a rough draft of their introduction for the narrative.  If you are not done with these two steps, be sure to complete it tonight.

Attard/Carlton: Students took the SAT 1 - 3 unit test today.

Johnson/Carlton: Students worked on indefinite pronoun practice.  SAT 6 quiz and notecards are due this Friday.

Carlton: Today students did a DGP warm up, and they analyzed examples of narrative introductions.  They will revise and edit their introductions tomorrow and continue to develop their rough draft in class.

HW: The date for the SAT 3 quiz has been changed to Tuesday, 10/25

Attard/Carlton: The students reviewed their CRCT scores from the previous two years and developed goals.  They also practiced style builders for their quiz on Friday.

Johnson/Carlton: We read two persuasive articles on the subject of dodgeball and analyzed the persuasive techniques used.

Carlton: Today students began our Daily Grammar Practice warm up, and they worked on the graphic organizer for their narrative essay.

HW: Write an introduction for your narrative.  Be sure to use the information from your 5 W's organizer in the introduction.  The rough draft of your narrative is due tomorrow.

Johnson/Carlton: Students analyzed their CRCT pre-test today and worked on creating a group poster to demonstrate how to write a strong persuasive essay.

All Students:  Please ask your parents to sign the conference form you were given today.  Return it to your conferencing  teacher this week!

Carlton: Today the students watched the SAT 3 video and began work on their vocabulary note  cards.

HW:

• SAT 3 vocabulary cards due Monday 10/17
• SAT 3 quiz Thursday, 10/20
• Friday, 10/14 - Bring a photograph which shows you participating in event or activity.  The photograph must be focused on a specific event.  You will be using this photo to write a narrative vignette.

Attard/Carlton: Today students took the Grammar test on simple and compound sentences.

Johnson/Carlton: Students viewed the SAT 5 video and began work on their SAT 5 assignment. 

HW:

• Use each SAT 5 vocabulary word in a sentence.  You must write compound, complex or compound-complex sentences.  NO simple sentences.  Use your sentence structure notes to help you if you are not sure of the patterns.

Carlton: Today, students continued to work on the rough draft of their descriptive beach paragraph.  If you did not finish your paragraph today in class, finish it for homework tonight.  We will do peer editing tomorrow in class.  You must have a finished rough draft to participate and receive feedback from your peers.

Attard/Carlton: Students worked on their sentence structure projects today.

HW: Grammar test on Monday, October 10.  A study guide will be given tomorrow.

Johnson/Carlton: The students worked on revising and editing the rough draft of their first expository essay. 

HW: SAT 4 quiz and note cards due tomorrow
