ALL 8TH GRADERS: REMEMBER TO TURN IN YOUR HIGH SCHOOL REGISTRATION FORMS TOMORROW IF YOU HAVE NOT ALREADY DONE SO! 

FIELD DAY IS FRIDAY.  WEAR YOUR POD COLORS AND SHOW YOUR SPIRIT!

Carlton: We did CRCT review and DGP #16 today.  We also began our discussion of WWII in preparation for reading Summer of My German Soldier.

HW: Do even #'s only for p. 136 in workbook

Vickery/Carlton: We reviewed the research and questions that the students have completed for Summer of My German Soldier.  Be careful not to fall behind on reading and answering the questions, doing vocabulary and keeping up with the character charts.

HW: Read chapters 3 - 4 and answer questions, do vocabulary and charts.  Those students who received four or less points on questions for chapters 1 - 2 must get parent signature and redo those questions that were checked today.

Colvin/Carlton:We reviewed the research and questions that the students have completed for Summer of My German Soldier.  Be careful not to fall behind on reading and answering the questions, doing vocabulary and keeping up with the character charts.

HW: Read chapters 7 - 8 and answer questions, do vocabulary and charts.  Must have all work through chapter 8 completed by tomorrow.

FIELD DAY IS FRIDAY, APRIL 4.  WEAR YOUR POD COLORS!  MY HOMEROOM, 8D, SHOULD WEAR RED!

Carlton: The students took their mystery unit test and began reviewing for the CRCT.

HW: purchase Summer of My German Soldier by Monday, 3/31

Vickery/Carlton:  The class took the lit terms vocabulary quiz today and worked on POW research. 

HW: complete POW research questions by tomorrow

Colvin/Carlton: We discussed chapters 1 -2 of Summer of My German Soldier and reviewed the questions

HW: Read chapters 3 - 4 and answer questions.  Do vocabulary for those chapters.  Be sure you are keeping up with reading, questions, character charts and vocabulary on a daily basis.

FIELD DAY IS FRIDAY, APRIL 4!  8D STUDENTS REMEMBER TO WEAR RED! 

Carlton: We completed the story chart for our last mystery story, "The Landlady"  The study guide was distributed and we put together all notes and vocabulary needed to complete the study guide.

HW:

  • study guide due Wednesday (students will have some time to work on this tomorrow in class)
  • Mystery unit test Thursday, 3/27 - use study guide packet - study all materials including mystery vocabulary

Vickery/Carlton: We took a short comma quiz and checked for Summer of My German Soldier

HW:

  • Have Summer of My German Soldier in class tomorrow
  • bring notebook ready to organize during class

Colvin/Carlton: The class checked SAT #6 vocabulary cards and directions sheet; we also distributed materials for beginning the study of Summer of My German Soldier

HW:

  • finish warm up #13
  • read chapter one of Summer of My German Soldier - be prepared to complete character chart and questions on ch. 1 tomorrow

Carlton: The class continued to work on their mystery  projects.  Tomorrow we will complete our projects and begin notes on author Roald Dahl. 

  • HW: If you did not complete your mystery book, your alternative book report is due Friday, 3/21.
  • Test on mystery unit will be Tuesday, 3/25

Vickery/Carlton: The class discussed the Walton registration meeting which is being held with students tomorrow.  We also organized the mystery packets and reviewed them.

Carlton: We completed reading "The Cyclist" today and discussed the story.  We will continue charting the story tomorrow.

HW: bring your mystery novel, story chart and mystery folder to class tomorrow - we will begin our project during class

Vickery/Carlton: The class worked on the story charts and reviewed some of the story elements and events.

    Carlton: The  class reviewed DGP #14 - Tuesday and took a quick pop quiz on "The Black Cat."  We also discussed Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and took notes on his life.

    HW: 

    • Completed novel and story chart due in class tomorrow.
    •   Bring all mystery materials to class tomorrow.

    Vickery/Carlton: The class turned in their mystery novel projects and shared their footprints.   We also took notes on author Roald Dahl, and the students received a study guide for the mystery test.

    Language Arts

    Carlton: The class completed DGP #14 - Monday and reviewed our mystery vocabulary homework.  We began taking notes on Edgar Allan Poe and will read "The Tell-Tale Heart" tomorrow.

    HW: continue reading mystery novel and completing story chart - book and chart must be completed by March 11 in order to participate in class project; students who are not ready that day will be required to write a book report outside of class

    Vickery/Carlton: The class began reading "The Adventure of the Speckled Band"

    HW:

    • continue mystery novel project and reading - due March 10 - last day that it may be turned in
    • continue working on story charts for selections read in class
