8th Grade Reading
A current event is due on Thursday, May 14th, and a reading log is due Friday, May 15th. This is the last required current event and reading log of the school year. If you have a zero for a current event or reading log you failed to do or turn in, then the last week you may turn in an extra credit current event or reading log. If you follow directions for current events and reading logs for the year, you can replace a zero for the grade from your extra credit assignments. Please make sure you follow all rules for selecting a current event, and you have the proper form that is signed for your reading log. No exceptions will be made.
You should be following the guidelines for your book project we are working on in class. Please follow all directions and deadlines that are detailed in your instructions. You and your partner each received a packet of instructions. The newspaper, which every group has to complete, and one other assignment that you selected is due on Monday, May 18th.
6-7-8 Grades
All students should bring $1.00 so the school can mail your child's report card.

6-7-8 Grades Reading
Parents and students: Information regarding the swine flu from the CDC has been placed on our web site. We are encouraging students to wash their hands and to carry individual sized hand sanitizers in purses, etc. Our school always has soap, hot water, and paper towels. In addition, most of us have hand sanitizers on our desks for student use. Please speak with your student at home about the importance of washing hands, covering mouth when sneezing, and other sanitary procedures.
8th Grade Reading
Eighth grade classes are working on a final book project. They are reading a book with a partner and then they have several projects to complete about the book in class. These projects will be presented to the class by May 18th.
A current event and reading log will be due the next two weeks. The final week there will be no current event and reading log due. Students may turn in a current event and reading log the last week for extra credit. They must have both turned in by Wednesday, May 20th.

8th Grade Reading
There will be a Lesson 14 vocabulary/spelling test on Friday, April 17th. It will be the kind that you must spell the word, write the definition, and use the word in a sentence.
Remember: no AR tests are required for April or May due to testing and 8th grade activities. You are still responsible for a current event on Thursdays and a reading log on Fridays.

8th Grade Reading

The deadline for the March book project and 3 AR tests has been moved to April 1st. We had several field trips that caused absences, so an additional two days seemed appropriate.
Also, I have attached a copy of the current event form for your convenience. No more copies will be in the classroom.

The Lesson 12 vocabulary/spelling test will be this Friday, Mar. 13th.
Lesson 12 practice packets are due on Wednesday, Mar. 11th.
Remember: The March Book Project and 3 AR tests are due on March 30th.
This is the last of our book projects and AR tests for the school year.

There will be no spelling/vocabulary test next week, Feb. 16-20. Remember that there is no school on Monday, Feb. 16th.

You may use the book you have to read for language arts as one of your books for February if everyone in your class is reading a different book.
