Collage cityscape/Reading for September

As you finish designing your cityscapes, remember that craftsmanship counts.  Straight lines and clean cuts in the paper give an all-over neater impression than torn paper and jagged edges.  First hour, 6th graders, don't forget that you will need to take your AR test next Friday if you have not already done so.  Remember that you must be reading a novel (150 pages or more) each month.  Connections classes will give the AR test or collect a reading card from all students in their first hour classes for the month of September.  Next week we will begin our ceramics project.  Be prepared to get your hands dirty!

Musical Instrument Illustrations

We have been practicing our drawing skills in art class.  Mr. Seiver's and Mr. Palmer have been gracious enough to lend some musical instruments to the seventh grade art class.  We have spent the past week drawing the intricate forms.  It has been a challenge to make the instruments look like metal.  You are all doing a great job honing your skills.  By the end of the week, we will be glazing our clay projects.  Please don't forget to be prepared to take an Accelerated Reader test on the 28th of September.  If you are ready to take the test before this date, let me know and I will arrange for you to do so.

The TellTale Heart by Edgar Allen Poe

As we read The Tell-Tale heart in art class, we are looking for good visual details to illustrate.  These illustrations will be put into a 6 panel comic strip.  Think about the images that have been conjured-up as you read the story.  Some of these can be very powerful when drawn. Keep in mind that reading cards from all first period Connections classes are due on the 28th of September.  As discussed in class, there will be no exceptions.  Reading cards are due in class on Friday, September 28th.
