Parents and Students:

Parents and students:  Information regarding the swine flu from the CDC has been placed on our web site.  We are encouraging students to wash their hands and to carry individual sized hand sanitizes in purses, etc.   Our school always has soap, hot water and paper towels.  In addition, most of us have hand sanitizes on our desks for student use.  Please speak with your student at home about the importance of washing hands, covering mouths when sneezing, etc.

Thank you very much.

Dragons!

Your ceramic dragons are outstanding!  As you know, they are on display in the media center and all of the comments have been positive!  You guys have done a beautiful job on them.  The last day to turn in the magazine mosaic is Monday, at the end of class.  I know this project was long and detailed, but they look very good and you should feel good about sticking with it.

We will begin a drawing project on Tuesday. You will be doing a contour drawing of your hands as well as a landscape drawing.   Please remember to take your time when drawing your hands for the next assignment.  Careful concentration is very important for a successful outcome.

Progress reports will go home after all of the magazine mosaics are turned in.

Spring is here!

The watercolor projects may be in the "drawing" stage, but they are looking beautiful.  Please take your time with the drawing.  If the drawing is carefully done, the painting should go quite smoothly.  I know flowers can be a challenge for some of you to draw, but if you stick with it and concentrate on the skill of drawing, it really will pay off in the end.  The deadline for the watercolor is Friday, May 1.

Next week, we will glaze our penguins.  Class time during testing week has been too short to try to tackle glazing.

Right now I have only one grade for you.  Many of our projects have taken some time to do and testing week made project completion a challenge.  Progress reports will be a little late going home as a result.

Thank you to Ms. Bailey

The sixth grade art classes would like to thank Ms. Bailey for coming in and teaching a great lesson on Surrealism.   Good Luck Ms. Bailey in your future teaching career!

The stained glass windows were finished yesterday and they look beautiful!  You guys did a wonderful job on these!  On Monday we will begin a new project, something for Mom.  We will discuss it further in class.

Progress Reports will be given out on Monday.  Have a great weekend!

Third quarter 6th grade

We have just completed our second assignment in art.  We have been drawing a still life and will continue to draw these on Monday.  Positive and Negative space will be discussed next week.  The still life drawings will be turned into a positive and negative design.

Please be reminded that next week is conference week and the schedule is different for the week.  We will be following the early release day schedule and 6th grade will come to connections for 3rd and 4th periods.  Classes will be short as well.
