Homework for 10-30

Students need to complete practice book page 41. Choose  any 8 problems to work. On page 42, complete problems 10-18.

We will have the warm-up open notes quiz tomorrow after the 9 week benchmark assessment.  The warm-up dates are listed on yesterday's blog.

The monthly reading cards are due tomorrow. Math teachers are collecting them for the month of October. Several students have already turned in the required reading card.

Students may wear their Halloween costumes tomorrow provided the outfits are within our standard dress code.

Homework for 10-29

Textbook page 272 was not checked today because several students had difficulty  getting on the website over the weekend. We will check that assignment tomorrow. I told students to take their book home if they were unable to get into the website to complete the work.

Today's assignment is worksheet "A Round of Golf" and "Quotient Quilt". All work needs to be done in the spiral notebook.

I handed back Thursday's word problem quiz. The grades were very high or very low. The scores ranged from a 0 all the way to a 110. We worked with partners today going over all the questions that were missed. The majority of the questions on the quiz came directly from the worksheets we covered in class: only the fraction values were changed.

The open-notes warm up quiz is Wednesday. There is nothing to study...just make sure your child has the following warm-up dates: 9-21,9-24,9-25,10-2,10-8,10-9,10-10,10-16,10-17,and 10-29. If your child has been absent, he or she can come to my room during homeroom time  to get the missing entries or get the entries from a reliable friend.

Homework for 10-26

Students need to complete textbook page 272, problems 1-35. All work needs to be shown in the spiral notebook.

Students also have a line design pumpkin that they can decorate for fun. We will vote on the entries on Tuesday.

I will return the word problem quizzes on Monday.

Homework for 10-25

Students need to complete  worksheet 28-front and back. All work needs to be done in the spiral.

If your child is having trouble with the multiplication of fractions, then view the tutorials for lessons 5-7 and 5-8. I viewed both last night and found them to be helpful.

We had our word problem quiz today. I will return the papers on Monday.

Homework for 10-24

Students need to complete the worksheet C-56, problems 1-18 and worksheet D-42. Students were given classtime to work on these assignments since the 6th grade dance was this afternoon.

Tomorrow we are having a quiz over addition and subtraction word problems.

There will be a help session tomorrow a.m. at 8:25.

Homework for 10-23

Students need to complete worksheet 63 (spiral notebook). They should also complete worksheet 27---FRONT ONLY!!! The work can be worked on the worksheet.

There will be a word problem fraction quiz Thursday. Students should review the worksheets that we have discussed in class.

There will be a help session Thursday a.m. at 8:25.

Please remember to sign your child's report card .

Homework for 10-22

Students need to complete  worksheet 60 and worksheet 57(front only). All work should be shown in the spiral notebook.

I returned Friday's quiz over the addition and subtraction of fractions. Please ask your child to show you his/her paper. If your child did not make a C or better, then please help them with this basic concept. Also, don't forget to visit the online help tutorials.

We will be having a quiz Thursday over addition and subtraction word problems. 

There will be a help session Thursday morning at 8:25.

Don't forget that tomorrow is picture re-take day. Students must have a note along with the pictures exlpaining the reason for the re-take.

REPORT CARDS were sent home today. Please sign your child's report card and return it tomorrow.

Homework for 10-19

Students need to complete the word problems on pages 130,136 and 139 of the "Worktext". There are 8 problems to complete and 1 of the word problems needs to be illustrated on the computer paper provided to the students in class. The paper should have 1.  the word problem as it is written in the worktext  2. the illustration 3. the computation  4. the answer to the word problem. All illustrations should be colorful. An activity grade will be taken on this assignment.

Picture re-takes are Tuesday. If you want your child to have a re-take, you must send a note in along with the pictures addressing the problem.

Homework for 10-18

Students have a worksheet with 12 problems to complete. The answers are written on the back of the paper so problems can be checked upon completion.

Our addition and subtraction of fractions quiz is tomorrow.

We had our help session this morning and we worked in groups during class  today practicing  these skills.
