Homework for 9-27

At last.....there is no homework tonight!! We had our unit 2 test today. Don't think that I can grade all 112 papers tonight. I plan on having the scores for Monday's class. We will go over each problem at that time.

Enjoy your evening.

Homework for 9-26

Tonight's homework is to review for the unit 2 test. Students were instructed to visit the my. hrw.com website. They have the username and password written in their agenda. I can not put this information in the blog for security reasons. If your child did not write this information down, I would  phone a friend. The assignment is to visit Chapter 4, lessons 1 and 2 or Chapter 5, lesson 1. Students may choose to view tutorial lessons or work practice problems. They get to choose the concepts that they want to work on. We played a review activity in class today, so your child knows what concepts he/she should practice. Please sign a note verifying that your child did the internet review activity. I would have your child write the note and you can just sign it.

The unit 2 test is tomorrow. I will have another help session tomorrow morning at 8:20.

Homework for 9-24

Tonight's homework is worksheet "LCM Applications". Work may be shown on the back of the worksheet or in the spiral notebook. Tomorrow we will continue with word problems using GCF and LCM. It is important for your child to be able to tell when the problem is asking for the GCF and when it's asking for the LCM. We have discussed this in class....you may want to see if your child can tell you how to distinguish between the two.

Our unit 2 test is scheduled for Thursday. There will be a help session Thursday morning at 8:20.

The test will cover: divisibility rules, prime/composite numbers, finding the prime factorization of numbers, listing factor pairs, Greatest Common Factor, Least Common Multiple and word problems using GCF/LCM.

Don't forget to visit the on-line Holt "help". Your child has the web address and log- in information and you also received this information at open house(lime green handout).

Have a nice evening.

Tuesday's unit 2 test has been changed to Thursday. We need more time with GCF and LCM word problems. Please see yesterday's blog for test details.

I handed back Wednesday's quiz today. Overall, the quizzes were great. Please ask your child to show you his/her quiz. Don't forget the on-line help that is offered through our Holt textbook.

Have a great weekend.

I will have a help session Tuesday morning at 8:20.

Homework for 9-19

Problems on worksheet # 24  should be worked in the spiral notebook. The  problems on the back of the worksheet (#27) are easy enough to work mentally. Just complete the puzzle.

We had our quiz today. I had a student ask if the quiz was going to be on today's progress report.....I grade quickly, but I'm not that fast!!!!!

Please don't forget to sign your child's progress report. Don't worry if your child's average is not as high as he/she would like for it to be. We still have at least 4 more weeks of grades.

Please continue to check this blog for important dates of upcoming quizzes and study sessions.

Have a nice evening.

Homework for 9-18

Tonight's homework is textbook page 178, problems 1-24. This page is an excellent review for the concepts covered on tomorrow's quiz. The quiz will cover divisibility rules, prime/composite numbers, factor pairs, prime factorization and greatest common factor. Don't forget the on-line tutorials for each lesson covered. Sections 4-1, 4-2 ans 4-3 are the lessons in the textbook that correspond to the tutorials and extra practice for tomorrow's quiz.

There will be a help session tomorrow morning at 8:20.

I handed back the "open-notes" warm up quiz and the graphing project today. You may want to ask your child how he/she did on each of the assignments. Both papers should be in the graded paper section of your child's math binder.

Have a nice evening.
