Science Update

Fri. May 16

Today we will finish up all incomplete assignments and get them turned in.  We will also watch a video on energy and fossil fuels.  No homework.  Have a good weekend.

Science Update

Thur. May 15th's

We will finish up working with stars today and prepare to move on the understanding our Earth's energy resources. 

The planet lab that was sent home several weeks ago has no been completed by some of the students.  This project can be made up on tomorrow during class.  The students will have to put there information in essay format to show their understanding of the material.

There will be no homework tonight.

Science Update

Wed. May 13th

As we continue to learn about stars, we are doing activities to help learn about classifying stars.  We will have our normal weekly quiz today and there will be no homework tonight.  Students who do not turn in the homework on time, there will be 20 points deducted.

Please remind your children that they can purchase summer reading books in the lobby at Dickerson.

Science Update

Tue. May 6

We identified some of the main constellations we see in out night's sky during class today.  Encourage your child to look for Hercules, Leo, Cassiopeia, Gemini, The Big Dipper and The Little Dipper.  There is no homework tonight except for those who did not turn in the homework assignment that was due today.  It is a green worksheet titled The Lives of Stars.  Tomorrow we will have our weekly quiz on the life and death of stars.

We started the CRCT today and all classes were short.  We are still learning about parts of our universe although we have already covered the topics that will be on the CRCT.  There will be no homework tonight.

Science Update

Thur April 17

We wrapped up our study of planets today.  There is a blue homework work sheet to be completed on Outer Planets tonight.  We read the passage on it in class today and highlighted the important parts. 

Some of the students did not finish the Planet activity lab in class over the last several days.  I will be sending the unfinished materials home with them on Friday for them to finish over the weekend.  It will be due Monday and count as a lab grade.

We began studying comets and meteroids today.

We worked on our Planets lab to date in addition to having our weekly quiz.  Tomorrow we plan to explore meteoroids.  No homework tonight.

Tue April 15

Today we worked on lab that involved drawing the planets.  We plan to finish this in class on tomorrow.  There is no homework tonight except for those who did not turn their home work in today.  Late homework will be accepted tomorrow with 20% taken off.  We will have a quiz tomorrow, as we will every Wed., on facts of the inner and outer planets.

We are learning more about the planets in our Solar System.  We learned details about the Inner planets and some of the outer planets.  There is homework tonight, a yellow worksheet on Inner Planets.  I encouraged all to write this assignment in their agendas.

Science Update

We started drawing the planets today in class and will finish it on tomorrow.  No homework tonight.  Tomorrow is Field Day, which will take place during connections.  We will still have our academic classes on schedule.  In the event of rain, Field Day will be canceled.
