I am reading aloud the first few chapters of TKAM to the class. The set-up in the book is extremely important. It is an exciting adventure to be welcomed into Scout Finch’s world in 1930’s Maycomb County, Alabama.
We have been practicing the difference between a phrase and a clause using “Sweet Child 'O Mine” from Guns ‘N Roses.
You will have a quiz next Thursday, September 22nd over the following:
1. How can you tell the difference between a phrase and a clause
2. How can you tell the difference between a preposition and subordinating conjunction? (For example: as, since, before, after)
3. Memorize:
a. Coordinating Conjunctions (FANBOYS)
b. Subordinating Conjunctions ( AAAWWWWUUBBIS-T)
c. Relative Pronouns (4 W’s & T)
4. Review the 10 Ways to Begin an Essay!
