The Diary of Anne Frank – final assignment due Thursday!

Our final exam is this Friday.  The students received their study guide last week.  Don’t forget to prepare for your essay letter by writing a rough draft and locating letterhead/stationary.  I need this by Thursday!

We are reading The Greatest Generation by Tom Brokaw in class and completing graphic organizers.

The students have already received their assignment for The Diary of Anne Frank.   You should have the book purchased or borrowed.  The final assignment will be due Thursday, May 19, 2010. It is EXTREMELY important to keep up with the reading and assignments!

 The Outsiders – We read and completed questions for Chapters 11 &12

These are the last two chapters of the book, so you should be finished with the entire novel.

TKAM – We have been working with the themes from TKAM.

 In class, we worked to complete the following:

The students identified the themes of TKAM by looking closely at other literary elements involved, such as, characterization, setting, events, point of view, tone, irony, imagery, etc. In other words, theme is illuminated through these literary elements.

We discussed the lyrics from “Where is the Love” by the Black Eyed Peas. to connect the themes from To Kill a Mockingbird.  We used direct quotations, events and characters from the novel in our explanations.

 The students began an individual lyrics assignment.  We will continue to work on this in class.  Download TKAM Music-Lyrics Project

 

We are watching the movie To Kill a Mockingbird to compare/contrast with the book and compare themes.
