We worked on finding examples of figurative language in the first few chapters of The Outsiders.  In addition, the students continued reading through to Chapter 4 and answering the discussion questions.

Each student has been assigned a vocabulary word(s) from The Outsiders.  He/she has been given specific dates where he/she will be required to present the definition of the word to the class.  Please be prepared on your assigned day!  If you are absent, you will present the day you return to class.

 The students received The Outsiders unit project.  The project will be ongoing and will be compiled into a final packet.  Each item will have due dates that will be announced as we progress with the book.

The categories of the project include: vocabulary, character descriptions, quizzes on vocabulary and character descriptions, study guide, final project/response (student choice), and final test.

Reminder: You need two AR quizzes taken by the end of the quarter!

We took an open note quiz on Chapter 1 Vocabulary from The Outsiders.

Also, we used character descriptions from the text to create a picture/word splash of a chosen character.

We discussed Chapters 3 & 4 in To Kill a Mockingbird .

 Homework: Read Chapters 5, 6, & 7
