We finished reading and discussing “I Have a Dream” as a class.  We discussed the remarkable use of literary devices that are used within the speech.

 Homework: Make sure you have turned in your 20 facts about MLK and 20 facts about the Civil Rights Movement.

The students were given the “I Have a Dream” speech.  We will be taking an in depth look at Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s speech and his remarkable use of literary devices that he uses within.

We read the poem “O Captain, My Captain” by Walt Whitman today.  In addition, we read an excerpt about Abraham Lincoln and the Emancipation Proclamation.  Lastly, we read the Gettysburg Address.
