We took a learning check today on volume of cones and cylinders.  We reviewed problems #1-14 in the purple coach book.  Work out each problem carefully and show all your thinking.  If you need help, have mom, dad, brother or sister help you out.  Remember to have a parent sign upon completion of your homework.  Good luck.

We are wrapping up our unit on solid figures.  There will be a learning check on Wednesday on finding the volume of cones and pyramids.  Look for homework to be out of our purple Coach workbooks between now and the CRCT.  Parents, please work with your student to study and discuss each problem.  Please sign the completed assignment each day as I will be collecting to see the amount of work performed.  These are multiple choice questions and should not be treated as multiple guess.  Thanks for the cooperative effort in preparing for the upcoming CRCT.  I will be having a CRCT help session this Thursday at 8:15am.

3rd period HW:  Cylinder w.s.  Complete Surface Area on 6 of the cylinders.  Use format given out in class.

4th period HW:  Volume of Cylinders Puzzle.  Show work in spiral.

We are working hard on our solid figure unit.  Students are doing a great job.  We will have a quiz on Friday including the following concepts:

• Identify solid figures
• State number of faces, edges, and vertices
• Find the Surface Area of a Rectangular Prism (Use the "Y" method)
• Find the Volume of a Rectangular Prism (V= Bh) or V= (l x w x h)
• Find the Circumference of a Circle (See formulas on Waterlogged w.s)
• Find Area of a Circle. 
• Find Surface Area of a Cylinder


Students will be given formulas and may use calculators on this quiz.

Tuesday HW:  3rd period- AREA of Circles w.s.

                        4th period- Surface Area of Cylinder w.s.

Today we reviewed scale drawing and learned how to convert customary measures.  The conversion chart in on page 496 in the textbook.  Students have a copy of their own to use on tonight's homework

Practice workbook page 77 #1-10.  Use chart to help you set up a proportion in order to solve.
