Ms. Andrizzi's Math Class

The proportion quizzes were returned today and have been posted on I-parent.  Overall, they were very good.  Today, we talked about scale factor and worked on our Snoopy picture.  We will finish our Snoopy on Monday.  Next week we will begin reviewing customary and metric measurement and how to convert measurements(using proportions).  Practice reading and converting measurements at home.

For a short week, we have worked hard on learning about Similar Triangles and Indirect Measurement. Weekend homework should be to review the additional practice pages and video tutorials on-line.  The material can be found in Chapter 7-3 Proportions, 7-4 Similar Figures, and 7-5 Indirect Measurement.   We will be having a quiz on these three sections next Wednesday!!!ALSO,  I am requesting some items for the classroom:  Students please donate sharpened pencils and loose leaf paper to leave in the classroom.  This way when somebody "forgets" to bring the necessary materials to class we can move on without interruption!!  It is a good idea for each of you to have your own personal plastic pencil sharpener so that you may quietly sharpen your pencil during instruction if necessary, too!!  This is a good time of year to reorganize materials and resupply!!  Thanks.

Have Fun!!!!

We have been using using proportions to find the length of missing sides of similar figures.  Additional practice and video tutorials with examples can be found in Chapter 7 Section 4.

HW:  Finish "Palace Window" workheet.   Set up a proportion to solve for the variable.  Use shortcuts wherever possible.

We continued working on setting up and solving proportions.  Tonight's homework:  Finish "Bumpy Airplane" worksheet.  We completed #1-5 in class.  Students should have those as examples.  They need to set up proportions for #6-8 and solve.  Good luck!!

We are learning how to set up and solve proportions.

HW:  worksheet 11:    SHOW WORK even if you use the short cut method!!

4th period:  In addition to worksheet 11, please have your parents sign that you have read this entry together.

PARENTS AND STUDENTS OF 4th PERIOD LUNCH Class:  We have been having far too many issues at lunch time. Parents please discuss with your student appropriate lunch room behavior.  Students are having a hard time displaying appropriate manners with food and with each other.  Unfortunately, lunch room behavior issues come back into the classroom and interrupt instructional time.

Thank you for your support.

We are coming to an end in our equations unit.   We will be having our test tomorrow.  The test will include addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division equations using whole numbers.  We will have a couple questions on writing expressions.  The rest of the week we will apply what we have learned to equations containing fractions and decimals. I will be having a help session in the morning at 8:20.  Your ticket into the help session will be tonight's homework review sheet.  No ticket no entry!!!

STUDY FOR THE TEST!!!
